Responsibilities

Purpose of this role 

  • The purpose of this role is to drive MiC’s next generation digitisation agenda and to start the process of onshoring development, improving speed to market and effectiveness.
  • In addition, this role will create the future of MiC as Australia’s leader in Energy Comparison and emerging verticals.

 

You will join a small inhouse development team, working within the existing bespoke CRM and developing new applications. Working closely with 2 other senior developers around the world (1 based locally), you will be responsible for:

  • Helping architect the development roadmap that will drive digitisation across MiC services internally and externally.
  • Understanding and refining an existing complex bespoke CRM serving the incumbent business.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues / defects found.
  • Providing support and enhancements to existing applications.
  • Lean development methodology and continuous deployment.
  • Developing new applications built to scale with a growing customer base for new channels and partners with digital CX.
  • Support a “laboratory” approach to new development, using lean-agile methodologies.
  • Ensure that developed software meets the business aims of the company and its customers.

About You

The type of person most suited to this role will be a dedicated and driven individual with effective communication skills. In addition, you will be comfortable with technology and communicating with internal and external stakeholders.

You will possess:

  • A minimum of 3+ years of development experience.
  • A Bachelor in Engineering (Software), Information Technology or Computer Science is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of reading and writing code in Ruby on Rails and JavaScript.
  • Moderate knowledge of AWS infrastructure, MySQL, Redis/Sidekiq, Microservices and integrating with third-party services.
  • A desire to relish the greenfield scale up opportunity that MiC presents,
  • A positive / can do, grounded and professional working attitude.
  • Intellectual curiosity, conceptual whilst pragmatic in execution with great attention to detail.
  • Prior experience in managing digitisation and the development of new products.
