Optus expands its 4G QLD coverage

Those searching for the best mobile plan may be interested to know that Optus has expanded its 4G network in Queensland faster than expected.

Brisbane and the Gold Coast are two areas where locals will be able to take advantage of the faster service, with over 100 locations now privy to the technology.

Posting on the company blog, the managing director of networks, Guenther Ottendorfer, said that while 4G is being rolled out, 3G customers won't be forgotten.

He commented: "It's very exciting to now be able to offer wider coverage across Brisbane and the Gold Coast, and our team is working hard to deliver even more sites in the coming months, so you can enjoy the benefits of Optus 4G in more places. "

"But it's not all about 4G. We have already completed major upgrades across the Sunshine and Gold Coasts to deliver an enhanced 3G experience for users with 3G 900MHz capable devices - we refer to these as 3G dual band devices."

Mr Ottendorfer said this is all about creating reliable coverage for customers who are using the 3G network in more places.

Adelaide and Canberra are the next intended locations for Optus 4G coverage.
