Keeping cool without increasing your energy consumption
If you are keen to keep cool over summer, think about ways that can be achieved without increasing your energy consumption.
With rising electricity prices, consider utilising the wind to its maximum by opening up doors and windows in an attempt to maximise the cross breezes.
Should you be lucky enough to have a pool, think about spending as much time as possible in the water. In keeping with the theme of liquid, consume plenty of icy drinks and also wet a washcloth and place it on your neck which will cool your blood and carry it around your body.
Make sure you are aware of the pricing structure of your energy policy - aim to reduce the temperature of your house at the time of day when your electricity prices are at their least to ensure your methods aren't too costly.
Should your house be facing an aspect that is directly in the path of the sun, take the time to install some curtains which block out the heat - this will also come in handy in winter by keeping the warmth inside.
If your energy provider is making it difficult to get through the summer, talk to a comparison and switching service to see if there is a better deal out there for you.
