Increasing efficiency with your electronics
If you have just rewarded yourself with a new laptop or any sort of other electronics, you may not be aware of how to use it efficiently and prevent electricity prices from spoiling your new toy.
With laptops, there are a number of ways of increasing efficiency, but it depends on your habits.
If you use your laptop as a desktop and don’t typically transport it around the room, then one strategy is to remove the battery and use the cable as a power supply. This not only prolongs the life of the battery itself, but you simply have to select the battery settings that prevents the laptop from using more power than necessary. This may sound like a greater consumption of power but charging it only when the battery is empty means you are running your laptop via the cable as well as charging it simultaneously.
If you carry your laptop around the room, then be sure to modify the settings for the usage of the charge. Select the power saver setting, dim the brightness of the screen and make sure it goes into a power saver mode when it hasn't been used for a while.
In addition, be sure to turn off the charger when the battery is full, so it isn't needlessly plugged in.
All these ideas can help save power over time.
