How to save electricity in the mornings
With electricity prices on the rise, it's worth taking a look at each individual part of your day and determining where energy is potentially being wasted in your home.
Here are a few simple ways in which you can cut down on early morning energy usage while going about your pre-day routine.
Opt for a zero-energy breakfast
It is often said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, fuelling us up for the trials and tribulations ahead. You need a good healthy meal in the morning with plenty of energy, but that doesn't mean you need to waste electricity in the process.
By opting for cereal or oats with cold milk rather than toast, you can make small but important reductions in your energy bills.
You can help avoid the pain of rising gas prices as well by sacrificing complicated egg or pancake dishes and skipping the stove top, opting for a banana or yoghurt instead.
Take a shorter shower
By taking shorter showers in the morning you can not only cut down on electricity usage but also do your part to help the environment as well!
Australia is a country that often deals with water shortages, so the less you send down the drain, the better.
Pause before opening the curtains
If you want to keep your house nice and warm without turning on an electric heater or gas fireplace, it might be worth holding off for an hour or two before you open the curtains.
By waiting for the sun to come up, you can make sure that the cold morning air won't get in and keep the temperature at a nice and comfortable level.
