Fixed supply charges on electricity to increase in Victoria
Electricity bills should be evaluated ever year, one energy analyst has asserted.
Speaking to the Herald Sun, Gavin Dufty said that everyone should keep an eye on how much they are paying for electricity - and not be afraid to shop around if they think there are better deals to be found.
"You should treat your energy bills like a smoke alarm battery - have a look at it every year," he emphasised.
Dufty added that with fixed supply charges expected to rise in all regions of Victoria, comparing energy providers is an action that can be well worth taking.
A switching service can take the hassle out of the comparison process - by using details such as your postcode, they can identify the best deals in your area and help you switch if you could be getting better value from your supplier.
You might also be able to save some money by switching to a different type of payment plan, using heating and air-conditioning sparingly and doing your laundry in cold water.
In addition, taking eco-friendly measures such as topping up your insulation and using your appliances more efficiently can help you to save money on your electricity bills.
