Crazy weather continues to batter Australia

Wild weather has meant a rough start to winter for much of australia 16000646 800480684 0 0 2162 300

Heavy rain caused flooding in Sydney yesterday (June 11) as winter continues to provide wild and unpredictable weather across much of Australia.

Parts of the Wakehurst Parkway were closed, among other roads, as people struggled to get home from long weekend vacations in dangerous conditions.

The Bureau of Meteorology was also forced to issue a number of weather alerts throughout the country, including a fog warning in Melbourne and a gale force winds warning along parts of the NSW coast.

Meanwhile, more than 100,000 homes throughout WA are without electricity after a powerful storm knocked out power and telephone cables on Sunday (June 10).

The Bureau is reporting further showers for Sydney, Brisbane and Perth today, with temperatures mostly under 20 degrees C in the capitals. Further rain is expected in Sydney tomorrow.

As winter sets in, many Australians will be reaching for the thermostat and cranking up the fireplace. Often that can mean soaring electricity bills as families struggle to keep warm.

That's why it's especially important to make sure you're getting the best possible deal when it comes to electricity suppliers.

An electricity price comparison check can help save you money by finding a provider more suitable to your needs.
