Around 75 per cent of the world now has access to a mobile phone
More than three quarters of the world's population now has access to a mobile phone, a new study has confirmed.
The study, Information and Communications for Development 2012: Maximizing Mobile, was released by World Bank and infoDev and gives an indication of the increasingly interconnected world we live in.
"The mobile revolution is right at the start of its growth curve: mobile devices are becoming cheaper and more powerful while networks are doubling in bandwidth roughly every 18 months and expanding into rural areas," said Tim Kelly, lead ICT policy specialist at the World Bank in a press release issued July 17.
The study also found that more than 30 billion mobile applications were downloaded in 2011, clearly an indication that people are constantly on the lookout for new ways to make their lives more convenient, and make their smartphone experience more exciting.
If you are one of the millions of people who enjoy using applications on your smartphone, you will want to ensure you are on a mobile phone plan which can cater to your individual needs by providing a large data allowance.
However with so many phone plans out there and a range of different providers to consider, figuring out the best mobile plan available can be a hassle.
That is why a plan comparison check which can compare phone plans for you is often the easiest way to determine which plan best suits your needs.
