Human pylons to carry electricity
Not quite as strange as it first may seem, nor is it something
happening here in Australia, but 10,000 miles away in Iceland plans
are a foot to have human shaped pylons support the electric
cabling and transport power around the country.
An architectural design from Boston, Massachusetts (US), Choi+Shine submitted an alternative design
for electric pylons to the Icelandic High-Voltage Electrical Pylon
International Design Competition.
Choi+Shine said: "Making only minor alterations to well established steel-framed tower design, we have created a series of towers that are powerful, solemn and variable. These iconic pylon-figures will become monuments in the landscape."
In a world where electricity is seen to be pretty dull, at least some organisations are being inventive and finding ways to enhance the landscape and electricity.
