How are my energy bills calculated?

How are my energy bills calculated?

In simple terms, your elecricity usage is measured in Kilo Watt Hours (KWh) and your gas will be measured in MegaJoules (Mj).

For each unit of usage every supplier has a specific charge.  These charges will vary depending on the total amount of energy you use during the course of the year.  There are even some charges that apply depending on the time of day you use your energy.

We've got all the analytical tools to understand your energy costs and how they compare in an accurate way, so it's very easy to understand your usage and who will be cheaper for you.

Why do you need to see a copy of my bill?

Your business electricity bill tells us everything we need to know to help make your bills cheaper.  It shows us a unique National Meter Identifier number (NMI) which we need to confirm what kind of meter you have, which supply area you are in and what kind of electricity user you are.  It ensures that we quote you the correct electricity prices.

How does my new supplier know I want to switch?

If you decide to switch energy suppliers, Make It Cheaper will contact your chosen new cheaper supplier and they will inform your current provider.

Finding a Better Business and Home Electricity Deal

Running a business can be extremely stressful without having to think about whether you're with the best energy supplier, and checking whether you have a cheap electricity deal for your home is the last thing you have time to do.

Business and home electricity prices have risen over the past 12 months and will continue to rise over the next 12 months. Businesses and home owners have seen energy bills increase by up to 20%, and are likely to continue to see further prices increase next year and the year after.

Fortunately, there is an increasing amount of competition between residential and business electricity suppliers, across the majority of Australian States and Territories, including South Australia (SA), Queensland (Qld), New South Wales (NSW) and Victoria (Vic).

Finding a new electricity supplier can take a lot of time and expertise, time which is often better spent running your business. Make It Cheaper takes the leg work out of finding a better gas and electricity deal available for your home or business's needs. We will ensure that shopping around for a new deal is simple, easy and cheaper for all Australians.
